device.friendly_name

type: getvar;setvar

This parameter refers to the device’s friendly name. The printer will report its serial number as the

friendly name if a name has not yet been assigned.

getvar result The friendly name assigned to the printer.

Example

Description Retrieve the current friendly name of the printer

Syntax ! U1 getvar”device.friendly_name”

Result

Printer will respond with the current friendly name, for

example: “XXQT02-02-0555”

setvar choices

A string of up to 16 characters enclosed in double quotes

Default Printer’s serial number enclosed in double quotes

Example

Description Assign “station 2” to the printer as its friendly name

Syntax ! U1 setvar “device.friendly_name” “station 2”

Result The printer friendly name will be changed to “station 2”
